This project involved the replacement of seven sash & case windows at a traditional property in the historic coastal town of St Andrews, Fife.
The existing windows had reached the end of their life, with deteriorating performance affecting thermal efficiency, draught levels and everyday comfort. However, the sash & case windows remained an important part of the property’s traditional appearance, meaning any replacement needed to respect the character of the building.
Our team manufactured seven replacement sash & case windows, carefully designed to replicate the detailing of the existing windows. Particular attention was given to the frame profiles and astragal arrangements to ensure the new windows remained in keeping with the property.
The replacement upgrade provided a significant improvement in thermal performance, draught reduction and acoustic comfort. The use of modern double glazing alongside traditional sash & case craftsmanship provides the benefits of modern windows without compromising the visual appearance of this historic St Andrews home.
