About us

A family business built on trust and reliability

Eco Sash & Case is a family run sash window business built on trust, reliability and value for money, and based on an eco-friendly ethos.

Our clients benefit from more than 100 years of accrued experience of refurbishing and renewing traditional sash and case and casement windows.

We offer an eco-friendly alternative to run-of-the-mill window restoration companies by taking a holistic environmental approach. Eco Sash & Case are proud to be one of the first companies in Scotland to offer a more affordable, sustainable, eco-friendly window repair and installation service.

We try to lead by example by showing how window restoration companies can be more environmentally responsible in their practices and materials to restore and replace old sash windows.

What Makes ‘Eco’ Sash & Case Different from other Sash Window Companies?

What makes us very different to alternatives are the processes and materials that we choose to use, and the way we carry out our work: from fillers, wood, paint and draught-proofing, to energy-efficient double and secondary glazing.

Our sustainable approach is designed to restore your windows to last many more years maintenance-free and much more energy-efficient, reducing their impact on the environment.

The Eco Sash & Case Promise

  • We will make an honest opinion as to the work and materials required to restore your windows.
  • We will not tell you that you have to replace any parts of your windows unnecessarily, from full sash & case windows, casement windows, parting beads, and sills and baton rods, unless they are rotten or beyond repair.
  • We will make a comprehensive and thorough inspection for rotten wood in all of your sash or casement windows.

Eco Sash & Case will Reduce your Carbon Footprint

  • We will use enviro-friendly paints, timber and materials that will not pollute the environment.
  • We will responsibly recycle or try to reuse any waste generated during our works.
  • We will plant a Scots Pine to offset our carbon footprint by restoring your windows.
  • Renovating and repairing your sash windows instead of replacing them uses 1/40th of the energy, almost eliminates the materials sent to landfill and retains the carbon store.

Eco-friendly materials

Our paints are enviro-friendly. Wood glues and fillers are eco-friendly and VOC-free. Sash ropes are made from 100% natural organic cotton and plastic free.

Environmental benefit of repair & renovation over replacement is the saving in raw materials and energy used to extract and process them.

Energy-saving windows

Less heat lost through your sash windows means lower heating bills for you. On average our customers save about 25% on their heating bills.

Lower carbon footprint

We preserve your original sash wood where possible which means less production energy and a lower carbon footprint.

We use enviro-friendly timber, sash rope, wood glues and paints.

The timber we use to repair or replace sash windows is from sustainably managed forests. Our responsible timber merchants are certified FSC or PEFC stockists. We also recycle timber from other sash windows.

Sash Ropes

We have a choice of sash ropes from standard to 100% natural organic cotton sash ropes that are 100% plastic free. All are based on traditional spiral braid construction for extra strength and durability for a longer life.

eco friendly paints

Enviro-friendly Paints

We can choose from three exterior rated window paints for your renovations. These paints are low VOC or zero VOC, will not pollute the environment and are better for your family’s health. Their excellent weather durability provides longer-lasting weather protection for up to eight years.

Responsible waste recycling

As a service, we recycle all waste generated during our work, wherever possible, from glass and wood to unwanted ironmongery. During our renovation work, we have black bags for non-recyclable waste and green bags for recyclable waste.

How we offset our carbon footprint

We’ll plant a Scots pine through Trees for Life for every completed sash window project. Trees for Life is an award-winning Scottish charity with a vision to restore Scotland’s Caledonian Forest, a haven for rare wildlife and spectacular wilderness in the Scottish Highlands.

How much does planting a tree offset our carbon footprint?

A tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year and can sequester 1 ton of carbon dioxide by the time it reaches 40 years old. That’s about 22 kg / yr or 455 kg / lifetime.

Our Eco Sash & Case services are better for you and better for the environment.
